Planet Bluegrass lays fallow for the summer

My heart is sad today. Unfortunately planet.bluegrass will be closed this whole summer season and Folks Fest won't occur. This must have been such a heartbreaking, but obvious decision.

The summer of 2019 I did both Telluride's troubadour competition and Folks Fest. I met a ton of soul friends at both of those events, and it really helped me to gain the courage to release my own music into the world. I loved every moment from Telluride, sitting side-stage in the pouring rain randomly meeting an idol @jewel and watching @stevepoltz joyously gather the crowd to do a conga line...to getting the chance to sing on that epic stage peering at those breathtaking Colorado mountains. Camping and laughing in the summer snow with my dear twin @ahoyitsalexis. And then folks fest felt like a reunion with all the people at planet bluegrass, getting to connect with them again felt like such a treat. And when they announced I had won, I felt my jaw drop to the floor. It's still one of the most profound moments I've had in my life so far. I remember when the storm came and I was singing in the round at the Wildflower Pavilion and a slew of new festivarians rushed in to take shelter just as I was singing my song "Invocation". It was so quiet and still, and I felt something in me say, "this is it, this is being fully alive". :

To say I was looking forward to singing at folks fest this year is a great understatement. I was so honored to maybe share the stage with my pals @thewailinjennys and @ruthmoodymusic and so many other phenomenal musicians. And of course, re-connect with the community at planet bluegrass, and take in the beauty of Colorado.

What now? Along with every musician I know, we are all in the situation of having every gig in the foreseeable future rescheduled...and if it helps to protect the greater good, then that is a sacrifice I know we are willing to make. But I am here sitting in quietude, soaking up new information cause I know that art is the source of life, and it will rise again in perfection with even more power and grace than before.
